The end of March is time for two things; Final Four basketball and taxes.  I can’t help you with your bracket picks but I can tell you this is the time of year your franchise accountant should take over as point guard of your financial planning team. Completing our tax returns is an annual chore no one enjoys but that is only half the accountant’s battle.  This is the perfect time to consult with your franchise accountant on tax planning.  After accessing the franchise business needs, your franchise accountant should be telling you whether to pass or shoot.  Are there tax consequences that will change the way your franchise does business or are there tax changes coming up that would cause you to benefit from actions taken now?  Take your accountant out to lunch and discuss your tax situation.  After all the tax discussion, you can always talk basketball.
